Thank you for your wonderful article about the upcoming anniversary of John Calvin's birth ('Calvin's Jubilee'). Calvin has been a hero of mine since my days studying theology at Grove City College, when I was first exposed to his Institutes. My Calvin adoration continued at Princeton Seminary as I sat at the feet of Dr. Elsie Anne McKee, Calvin scholar extraordinaire. Among a herd of Barthian sycophants (lemmings!), I was one of the few who nurtured a passion for 'Johnny C.'. Interestingly, I found that my Methodist brothers and sisters at Princeton were far more tolerant of Calvin than my fellow Presbyterians. One of my dearest Methodist friends has since 'come out of the Calvinist closet' (her words!), seen the light and become a Presbyterian. Calvin still speaks, changes lives, and yes, warms hearts! I will be one of the Presbyterian faithful who will celebrate in July, 2009! - Rev. Joshua Long
