I don't see this in our confessions either. Can anything that serves to tear apart rather than build up be of God? How will the world know that we are Christians if we allow intolerance to grow and fester in our hearts rather than keeping them open to the life transforming love of God? It is my sincere prayer that the PC(USA) will not separate. Since I just turned 60, I think I am qualified to start an Old Wineskins Movement. We will not need to waste our money on travelling across the country to beat our drums together - money that could have been used for mission or Christian education or outreach in the community. Our motto is simple: LET 'EM GO! Those churches who no longer want to be part of the PCUSA, LET 'EM GO! The Old Wineskins will even be willing to LET 'EM leave with their property as long as they leave us with their PCUSA minister and staff pension funds! The pension funds for their minister(s)and staff should be easy for many of the New Wineskin churches to replace with all that PCUSA benevolence money they have been withholding for the last 10 to 15 years! Old Wineskins, 'enough is enough' - let 'em go so they can 'target' their financial support for causes they agree with (when I was an Army officer, I saw the word 'target' in a number of military manuals - but for the life of me I do not remember seeing it in the PCUSA Book of Confessions or Book of Order)!
